Welcome to Barrett

Barrett Adolescent Centre was established in 1984 to support secondary students who have disengaged from mainstream schooling due to significant mental health challenges. Students are supported to re-engage in education, accessing the Australian Curriculum and a variety of senior pathways in a flexible, inclusive and tailored learning environment. Following successful re-engagement with the educational setting, peers and curriculum, students are assisted in their transition to an educational facility that meets the agreed upon learning goals and personalised needs of each student.

As a school community we strive to support every student to achieve holistic wellbeing and educational outcomes. This is through a strengths-based, relational approach to education that supports extensive differentiation for our students.

We value 'Health through Knowledge', supporting students to re-engage in education whilst collaboratively working with stakeholders to develop resilience and strengthen relationships. Each student is supported by a Case Manager who coordinates an extended support team including school staff, parents/carers, medical practitioners and other external stakeholders.

Our passionate and experienced staff have a strong belief that the students who come to our school are able to re-engage and succeed in learning. This belief is fuelled by the successes of many of our past students who have achieved success beyond our school.

It is a pleasure leading our dynamic, caring and inclusive school community.
