Welcome to Barrett Adolescent School, a unique special purpose school with a rich history of supporting young people facing severe and chronic mental health challenges.
In 2014, Barrett Adolescent Centre Special School underwent a significant transformation, separating from the Barrett Adolescent Centre and relocating to Yeronga State High School. This move marked a pivotal moment in the school's evolution, allowing further specialisation in catering to the educational needs of students with complex mental health issues.
The following year, 2015, our commitment to providing tailored education and support was recognised when the Minister for Education approved the continuation of our services. This approval led to the establishment of Barrett Adolescent School as a stand-alone transition school located on the former grounds of Tennyson Special School. Since then, Barrett Adolescent School has continued its dedicatation to supporting students from Years 7 to 12 who encounter significant barriers to accessing education in mainstream settings due to complex mental health needs.
At Barrett Adolescent School, we are proud of our history and the positive impact we have made on the lives of countless students. We remain steadfast in our mission to provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every individual can thrive academically, emotionally and socially.
